LEAF COLLECTION RULES AND REGULATIONS

Pennsylvania’s Act 101 – “Municipal Waste Planning, Recycling and Waste Reduction Act” requires all waste haulers to have separate pick up days scheduled to accept “Leaf Waste” and Leaf Waste” only. All weights and volumes of the leaf waste collected must be reported by your waste hauler to your municipality and then to the state on the “Recycling and Municipal Solid Waste Report”.

Your municipality and your trash hauler, Ches-Mont Disposal have decided to offer special pick up days for fall and in the spring for “leaf waste” only. See List of Townships to see if this applies to you.

Information from Ches-Mont Disposal regarding Leaf Pick up.

Brown Bio-Degradable bags must be used. Plastic bags with leaf waste will not be collected on these days.
Bags can be purchased at most Hardware stores.
No twigs in brown bags with leaf waste.
No tied or bundled twigs or tree trimmings will be picked up on Leaf Pick Up Days.
Please have brown bags at curbside the night before. We may service early in the day.

This “Special Collection” is a requirement of the State of Pennsylvania. Similar to your regular recycling, a cost is involved. Please note that there may be a charge for the “Leaf Pick Up”
